I loved the ending-- it was a challenge to get through but absolutely brilliant messaging. Be warned, the narrator loves to go on tirades and diatribes that are not entirely relevant unless you have a deep passion for the history of Christian sects in the 1300s Italy. However, the Totally Subtle descriptions of the gay monks were the funniest things I've ever read.
