My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan

2.0

I find it hard to believe that someone in a Master's program at Oxford for English Literature wouldn't know the name of John Keating from 'Dead Poets Society', but still knows the movie well enough to reference it, or had never heard of basic literature theories that any English major would have studied in their first year of undergrad; I understand that our protagonist wasn't an 'English major' in undergrad, but she's doing a Master's in literature at Oxford! She should have at least heard of Queer Theory. Furthermore, this book is filled with cliches and the writing was mediocre at best. I found myself rolling my eyes throughout the whole thing.
