The Power of When by Michael Breus
2.0
A Holmes knock-off that tries very hard to imitate the original Conan Doyle style. However, I found the writing a bit too simple, not quite the density of the original. Horowitz tries to amend for the lack of compassion in the originals for characters like Mrs Hudson and the Baker Street boys by acknowledging how the originals took them for granted. The bad guys are too quick to confess in this story, the mystery too grizzly and not suave enough. It's ok, but I lost interest and it never really had me in its grasp as I wanted to be.
