The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

adventurous emotional mysterious tense slow-paced

4.0

I really adore how Alix E. Harrow makes her writing so flowy and beautiful. This book is another proof of how exquisite the writing is inside. The prose and how every sentence intertwines make me feel like I'm floating inside these written words. Not only is the writing great, but the plot is also good. I find it really interesting, although it's slow-paced and takes some time to read. However, for me, it's really worth my hours. The theme of doors that can be opened to another world is well-written here, with the interconnection between different worlds and times, along with the past and future, that the characters finally meet in the right time is just adorable. Not just that, but the feeling of how the main character is alone and trying to find answers within the surge of family and friendship just makes me a little bit emotional. Despite all those good things, I still feel some missing elements in the plot, like the society. There are only a few details about them, even though they are one of the most interesting parts for me. Perhaps more details for other elements are needed too. It's just something a little bit missing.

So, I liked the book and I'm so happy I finished it. I wasn't disappointed with the ending because, for me, it is perfect ending for every characters. Now I'm even more curious about the author's other books.
