It’s great, it really is. It’s a simple tale as old as time: delusion and disillusionment, false appearances barely concealing the truth. None of his observations are anything I haven’t seen with my own eyes throughout my life. It’s not the richest (haha) classic I’ve ever read. But my goodness if the execution isn’t something to behold. Francis Scott had something to get off his chest and he scorched the earth of upper class America with it. What can I say?
