Christmas by the Book by Anne Marie Ryan

4.0

Christmas by the Book started a little slow, but soon picked up and was an excellent story. Empty-nesters Simon and Nora are the owners of the Stowford Bookshop. Missing their only child, Charlotte, and the slower sales due to online shopping, have put the bookshops future at risk.

A chance encounter with an elderly gentleman gives Nora and Simon the idea to send books to a few residents who need a festive respite during the holidays. Little do they know, their "secret deliveries" enrich not only the recipients lives, but also their own. A quote I love from this book is "in times of trouble, help comes in many different forms: from family, from friends, from strangers, and between the covers of books". The true magic of books is that they bring people together.
