The Romance Recipe by Ruby Barrett

3.0

Typically with a lot of queer romance it takes chapters and chapters for the characters to actually get together so I loved the change of pace. The intimate scenes were well described and definitely got my heart racing however some of the sex talk, personally wasn’t for me. The whole ‘you did so good’ just came across as awkward and condescending.

I enjoyed the two view points of the main characters as chapters and this have the viewer a deeper understanding of their behaviours. Knowing what they are thinking and then viewing how they react from the others view was really interesting and honestly, some times painful because you just want to shout that Amy loves you too! Whenever she acts the opposite of how we know she feels. To me this is good writing.

At the beginning it did take me a second to form the characters individually as they are pretty similar personalities and so a couple times I had to remind myself who’s view I was reading from.
