The Botanist's Daughter by Kayte Nunn

Did not finish book. Stopped at 22%.
I couldn't get my teeth into this book from the minute I started until I DNFed and I have been trying to wreck my brain to find out why. I think it's 2 fold for me;

First, the writing style was torn between old timey writing style that tried to carry through into the present day POV in a way that sadly didn't work (for me at least).

I can tell the Author cared more about the 1886 naritive than the present day one, and this really shows through in the writing of the 2 different perspectives. The 1886 perspective, Elizabeth, have much more personality than the present day, Anna, who, in the pages I read, has 1 defining character trait; she was given a house by her grandma. I learnt more about Anna from the back of the book than I did from the pages of the book.
