I Survived the Nazi Invasion, 1944: The Graphic Novel by Georgia Ball, Lauren Tarshis

5.0

History is important. We learn about people's lives, people's stories.
We put an ear to what they were feeling at the time, what made them scared, grateful, happy. Especially with the increase of graphic novel adaptations, I think now is a great time to get the children reading.

I Survived the Nazi Invasion, 1944, is book #3 of the I Survived Graphic Novels series. It tells the story of Max Rosen and his sister, Zena, as they try to survive the fallout of the Nazi invasion. After their father was taken away by the Nazis, the two siblings escaped from the soldiers. They got brought into a safe camp by the Jewish resistance fighters. Though, not everything will be safe for sure.

I loved this book because I have been a fan of the I Survived chapter book series for a very long time. It is by far the most nostalgic roller coaster ride! As for the illustrations, they were vivid, emotional, and captured the moments well. I think something about every I Survived book is that it is never repetitive. Each book is always unique in its way. It always tells a different story using a different perspective. And I love that!

All in all, I highly recommend this one.
