Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter

This was a good read. The whole idea of having the camp about supernaturals learning how to coexist and hone their powers was interesting. I liked how there's tension between some of the different species of supernatural because of issues from the past.

Kylie was a good main character. I liked her character development throughout the book. She described herself as a outsider and one who "floats" to different cliques. By the end of the book, you get the feeling that she has found a group of people that she is close with, even though she still doesn't know which group of supernaturals she belongs in. I also liked the development of Kylie's relationship with her mother in the book. The first few chapters showed how distant her and her mother are but by the end their relationship gets stronger once Kylie's mystery "staler" is solved.

The romance part of the book is okay. At times it was a little too much but it didn't really both me. Derek and Lucas both are great male characters and are different in their own ways. Lucas has history with Kylie and has that mysterious vibe. Whereas Derek has more of that friend but could be more than friends vibe to him.

Overall, it was a good read. The only think that I don't like is the writing style. It sounded like the author was trying too hard to sound like a teenage. However, I still got sucked into the world of Shadow Falls and I will definitely check out the next book in this series.
