The Summer Garden by Paullina Simons

1.0

Spoilers; I'm quite disappointed with the turn of events in this book. I've stopped reading at page 570. I've had enough, I actually skimmed the rest of the book.

Alexander has become a bully towards his wife, adultery and hitting her ????, actually not hitting punching. Why has the author gone done this road. It makes a mockery of the bronze horseman. Alexander's excuse for adultery ( he didn't sleep with the other woman but fondled her breasts, and she gave him a blow job and then pre mediated another time to meet which he had condoms on him, he didn't go through with it) is that his wife was working too much!!! Really!!

I know you can't be the same after the horrors this couple have endured but I do not condone his adultery or using violence or his size to get what he wants!!

If you are put off reading this series by my review I would still recommend the bronze horseman and leave it at that, as the next book the couple don't even get together until 90% which was frustrating.

It's a shame this author did this as it could have been so much different, why couldn't we have seen a nicer side of Alexander?? Yes the couple may have had their ups and downs over the years, but not adultery and violence.... I in no way condone it or cheating, that's a no no for me and an automatic one star.

Also Tatianna, okay I see no reason why she couldn't work, Alexander's attitude to her working was 'I'm man, I provide, you at home in kitchen pregnant!!! He was relentless about her working so much. I didn't expect Tatianna to give in to his bullying ways, no way, but why did she feel the need to work 60 hours a week? I just don't understand why everything they went through together, surely they would have BOTH wanted to spend as much time together enjoying life, holidays etc etc, spending time with each other, because these two went through so much to get their time. Why work 60 hours then come home shattered after the life you both endured, you didn't have too, yes you could have still been a nurse Tatianna, and gave your time to your patients, that was understandable, but so much time .... No.

And their arguments, such hateful words ' I would have aborted any baby of yours'. His ' I wish I had never crossed the street for you', this quote was what it was all about in the bronze horseman.

My final thoughts are why did it take Tatianna 15 years to have another baby, and then why suddenly she gets pregnant another two times, suddenly after years of it not happening, just didn't add up to me.

The end. This book has spoiled the whole series. Such a shame.
