The main concept of this book hooked me right away; I hadn't really thought about the purpose of the hyperspace lanes before, and this made me excited to learn more about them! While I found the conflict around their use to be engaging, I wasn't too endeared to many characters. Burryaga, Loden, and Bell were my three favorites personally. I found the pacing of the book to be engaging, and the framing of going around from one planet to another and how they each were dealing with the catastrophe to be really rewarding! The structure and depiction of the Nihil fell somewhat flat for me through my reading of them as a metaphor for anarchy; they felt rather stereotypical in that regard.
