Recommended to me by Thomas, an american I met in Prague and again in Berlin. A very interesting read. The edition I read was full of typos, but might just have been a specific issue. I love reading stuff people recommend, because it gives such an insight into their minds. This is a very american tale in a modern sense, the sentiment of ”you don’t owe anyone anything and life is what you make of it” has undertones of the traditional American Dream, but this book outwardly speaks against the traditional american lifestyle. I don’t necessarily agree with the moral lesson or the lack of it, but I did enjoy the prose and trying to understand a worldview so foreign to me.
