Skippy Dies by Paul Murray

3.0

I struggle with rating this book. If there was a separate section just for the writing itself (how the author arranges his words, his style, etc) I would give this book ten stars. Something about the way he throws the words together is unlike anything I have ever read. Poetic as fuck, and usually not in a cheesy way. I need to reread it just to find some good quotes to put up here, but on quick inspection I found
Autumn deepens. A fresh chaos of yellow leaves covers the lane up to school each morning, as if it’s been visited overnight by woodland poltergeists...

I love stuff like that, and it’s what got me through the book. The main story is interesting...but something about it just felt lacking as I finished. I do have a feeling that if i reread it I might feel a little more favorably towards it.
