There was a bit of intrigue that really kept this tale moving through such a large cast of characters. Adrian is not overly likable, however, and yet, all of his family members continue to indulge him, despite what it costs the rest of the them. The ending revelations tie up the story and bring closure, but again, it was someone else who paid the price - Maya.
