Ugh. I enjoyed this until the end reveal and I’m now I’m here upset on behalf of the main character in a middle grade story. 

I am pissed at all of these adults, and mostly the parents. Maybe it’s because I’m a child of parents who made mistakes who has not been to therapy to work it out - but I’m all for 12 y/o Caroline being mad at the world. As the reader with no emotional connection to Caroline’s parents beyond knowing they really messed up when it came to their child, *I* wasn’t ready to forgive them when the book ended…. So I’m just left here being pissed at these fictional characters. 🤷‍♀️
