The Black Tower by Louis Bayard

I almost didn’t believe Vidocq was real until midway through the book when I decided to google. What a larger than life, Poirot come to life... fascinating. The book was good, clunky at times but with plot points and themes/ deeper ideas that compensated for it. The nature of reality, the impact of trauma, the deeply unreliable narrator... good quick historical thriller/ mystery. Gave me knowledge on parts of French history that I only knew a touch about, which is always a good thing
