April 2022: Loved this book. I read it in tandem with Tower of Dawn and whilst the tandem read had its pros, I do kind of wish I’d read them separately.
I loved all the different perspectives from the different characters and how all of their journeys converge.
There is some beautiful writing in this book and some absolutely incredible moments, giving me goosebumps, out loud laughs and exclamations.
The ending of this book especially is so emotional and the hideous cliffhanger punches you right in the gut after all Aelin’s plans so deliciously come together.
I am so here for the character development and character arcs this book offers up and all the various romantic storylines going on.
This is a book that really ties everything together in the most epic way after 5 books of world and narrative building and it was all just so *chef’s kiss*.
Satisfactory ending? Yesss a cliffhanger, we love a cliffhanger.

March 2023 re-read: UGH. I LOVE THIS BOOK. I would give more than five stars to this masterpiece if I could. I laughed, I exclaimed and I sobbed in all the same places that I did when I read this the first time around, and the goosebumps I felt were just as mind blowing as they were then. What I would give to read this for the first time again - oh my goodness.
I read this independently from TOD this time and I think it paid off in all the best ways. Sooo much good stuff in these 689 pages, I will never stop recommending and will probably read many more times in my lifetime.
