Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi

3.0

More like 3.5.

N.B.: My copy (for school) is a mediocre photocopy and I probably didn't get the full effect of the black & white art, which may have hindered my enjoyment.

I mean, yes, it's good. Emotionally evocative and a good sense of the heartbreak & confusion of growing up in Iran during war & revolutions. However, the story felt a bit rushed at times and I wish a bit more development was provided for several of the main characters, including Marji, the narrator. It felt a bit more like a summary that paused for some really beautiful, really heavy moments.
