So Here's the Thing…: Notes on Growing Up, Getting Older, and Trusting Your Gut by Lauren Oyler, Alyssa Mastromonaco

4.0

I think I'm a bit older (20 yrs post-high school) than the intended audience of this book, but because of that, I think I enjoyed the book more than younger readers. I came at it from an "also-lived-this" perspective, so a lot of the stories told as cautionary tales for young adults struck me more as the kind of things middle-aged girl friends share while reminiscing over a bottle of wine. In that way, this book was a comfort. Hearing someone else speak openly about the wardrobe malfunctions, social faux pas, and other young-adult slip-ups I experienced made me feel a bit better about my own past, or at least helped me laugh about it for once, rather than cringe.
