My Own Lightning by Lauren Wolk

4.0

i do not usually condone unnecessary sequels, but it would be nigh criminal to deprive the world of lauren's piercing prose. while not as good as the precursor (when is it ever?), this book exemplifies yet again why middle grade fiction is my favorite genre. how do we forgive those who have wronged us? how do we reckon with the good and bad residing in each person? the plot felt like a stretch to me, and also i'm not much of a dog person, so maybe that's why it wasn't as compelling as wolf hollow. but i loved the relationships between the characters and it was a book i couldn't put down. i was reading it walking through stoplights.
