i really enjoyed this book! lucie and paul were such great characters, and i also enjoyed the sweetness of paul's daughter, josie. her way of seeing the world and processing the war through her feenee stories was such a wonderful addition to this book! i thought the writing in this book was strong and i was drawn into the suspenseful elements of this story, especially the way lucie and paul learn to trust each other and fall in love as well as their harrowing escape back to america. if you like world war II fiction, i think you'll enjoy this book.
