Pickman's Model: Short Story by H.P. Lovecraft

5.0

I've read a few of Lovecraft's works and I can safely say this is the first one that really spoke to me (I don't know if spoke to me is the right terminology here but whatever).

That said I find it a bit weird how Lovecraft, an author renowned for his cosmic horror stories, made a story about something that is pretty mainstream horror (ghouls 'n shit) and still made it excellent. I didn't like Call of Cthulhu or The Color of Out of Space nearly as much as I enjoyed this story. I guess it's a bit more grounded in comparison and the ending I foresaw a mile away but it was still nonetheless superbly written.

5/5 I'd recommend Pickman's Model to anyone interested in H.P. Lovecraft's work and as a whole anyone who likes horror (even thought I'm not that big of a fan of horrors).
