Freaks by Tess Gerritsen

3.0

Freaks is a short story Tess Gerritsen wrote to whet the appetite of all us Rizzoli & Isles fans while we await the release of The Silent Girl. It's a super-short story, it took me all of 10 minutes to complete if that, but for what it was - a free, short story - it fit the bill perfectly.

I was a bit worried it would all become a bit of a farce - how can you solve a murder in 10 minutes in a book? But, no, it was actually quite quirky that way and Jane's line on the last page was brilliant, total Jane.

It isn't a real part of the Rizzoli/Isles series, not much happens for it to be a necessary read, but for a short sharp story when you have a spare few minutes it's well worth reading and I'm eagerly awaiting the next Gerritsen novel (having already read The Silent Girl. Boo).
