Going into this book, everyone told me it was just a rip-off of the hunger games, so that was all I expected. However, that made me appreciate the differences. This is supernatural where the hunger games is more sci-fi and the goal of the competitors here is not death so much as glory with a symptom of death. Overall, I thought it was good but I was dyyyyying for some of the tension to release between Payden and Kai.
As for the writing, I enjoyed the style of the author. Though, I was getting a little sick of constantly reading about the “ghost of a touch” constantly because I think we can switch the description up a little bit.
