I’m not a big fan of historical fiction, but this book did not read as such. I loved the relationship between Ephriam and Martha. He was there for her during many trying times. 

Martha was a bad ass, especially when she

castrated North.

 As a nurse, I found a lot of the midwifery scenes interesting and loved that because Page was a doctor he thought he could do the job better. Similar to most MDs. 

Solid read, but I felt like more could have been covered at the end.
