Along for the Ride
by Sarah Dessen
In my reread of this, I have bumped up the rating by one star. Much better than I remember it being. However, I probably read this one for the first time in like 9th grade. Which is not really a time I was reading much for fun so this book probably fell in the wayside between boring books I was forced to read at school. But this one is a lot better the 2nd time around. Not as god as my faves of hers (This Lullaby, Just Listen, The Truth About Forever) but I'm putting it up higher than it used to be.
The dad is terrible and I'm just shocked he found 2 women willing to marry and procreate with him. I would NEVER. The mom was terrible but then started adjusting herself and her views as those around her changed, which is always appreciated. Auden's great, Eli's great, all the Clementine's girls are great. I love me a book about female friendships. And about love. And about finding yourself. Good good good.
I think I'll do a reread of all the Sarah Dessen books that I only read once due to me not liking them much. Maybe they'll be better the 2nd time like this one. Challenge accepted.
