All those Terms of Service agreements we ignore? Maybe we shouldn't ignore them.

"The Dream Hotel" is a thought-provoking, cautionary tale about the dignity, privacy and freedom we willingly give up for technological convenience and capitalism. Big Tech is akin to authoritarian regimes, the government imprisoning any American who fits a certain profile, with zero tolerance for deviance -- including any dreams you may have that are readily available for AI evaluation.

I loved Laila Lalami's premise and the questions she asks, the concern she plants in all our minds. Admittedly I couldn't connect with the protagonist, or any of the other characters; I'm questioning why they felt so distant when we're supposed to be invested in their humanity and see ourselves in them.

Still, you'll like this if you're in a dystopian mood, want a plot twist, and to mull on the consequences of AI, and of history repeating. Highly recommend reading Lalami's acknowledgements at the end.
