LOVED this! amazing authors, amazing stories. Some felt like I was watching a Black Mirror episode, others were brilliant splatterpunk/extreme horror, some made my heart ache, others filled me with righteous trans rage. My absolute favorites included:
-Tonsilstonespunksplatter666! (think trans rage + hilarious splatterpunk action scene)
-Brother Maternitas (the omen/rosemary’s baby vibes… but… genderbent)
-The Same Thing That Happened to Sam (sci-fi story of queer kid resistance)
-Playing House (just a totally normal good housewife making dinner.. right?) -Hybrid (written in dated log form, documentation of the progression of a dangerous creature created for the state/military)
-Fencing Chestplate (trans athlete rage and body horror transformation! prob my absolute fav)
-Gender Envy (a poem that reminded me I have no original experiences. every single part i was like… yup. feel that)
-The Divine Carcass (trippy space station god?)
-The Simulacrum (written through papers/recordings/research taken from a failed experiment…)
-The Pearl Diver (a buzzard tells a dying dear a story)
Each was so unique, so visceral, so well done. I applaud these authors and this anthology they’ve created<3
