I love a summer camp novel and One Last Summer was so nostalgic back to my camp days! 🥰 OLS is a sweet second chance romance and the group of friends reminded me a little of Emily Henry’s Happy Place (which I also loved).
I enjoyed that while OLS is definitely a romance, it also focused a lot on the female friendship and supporting one another and wasn’t just about the romance. I also thought the author did a great job describing and touching on burnout, without overdoing it. Great lesbian and gay representation in the friend characters as well.
One pet peeve I had is that the male MC is described as being fit from working at the camp, yet he was always out of breath compared to the not-athletic female MC. Just didn’t quite add up. Some parts of the book made it hard to believe the characters were in their mid-30’s as the dialogue and some of their decisions seemed a lot younger, but I loved the approach and as a person in their mid-30’s it’s so nice to see this representation!!
The summer camp plot was so fun and I think a lot of people will really enjoy the nostalgia! Thanks to forever pub for the arc! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
