The Confessions by Saint Augustine

5.0

It seems to me that this book should be standard for anyone wanting to explore anything. Any Westerner owes it to him/herself to read this book and find him/herself in it. All the more so for the Christian. In a time when we have lost vulnerability to objectivity and passion to disinterest (disembodiment, detachment), Augustine's Confessions can remind us of what it means to be Christian, of struggling with existential questions, not by way of third person, objective rationality, but it the form of prayer, confession, and worship. Our theology should first and foremost be addressed to 'You." This was a refreshing read for me.
