Three and three quarters.
Wryly funny, deeply intimate exploration of human relationships in these turbulent times. Cleverly observed. Perhaps a bit too busy - a few too many characters to keep track of, a bit drawn out. I think it could have done with a bit of a clipping as I felt almost bored in parts but then it would reel me back in. It really is an astute novel, one for the times indeed.
Oh, and I don’t think it mattered a jot that I hadn’t read 1 or 2 in the loose trilogy. It worked just fine as a stand-alone.
