Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

4.0

This book was chosen by my library for its 2019 "Everybody Reads" program. I kept waiting for the next moment I could sit down and read it: my reading moments became treasured again. From seeing the USA through a non-citizen's eyes, to the simmering love story underneath, I appreciated the prose. Adichie describes people, and dialogue, so well! I especially loved the way she described the main character's relationship with her aunt and nephew, and the deep-rooted nature of her childhood friendships. Adiche shares, and admires, the intellect of her characters. It tickled my desire to travel and experience other cultures, and I was sad when the book finally ended. I will most likely find and read her other book _Half a Yellow Sun_.
