Archie Vol. 5 by Mark Waid

4.0

It took me a while to read this. I will admit that I have been gobbled up by my Netflix account lately and have been reading little, but I think its anxiety more than stories. I have been in the Crown, Queen's Gambit and Glee. Anyway.

I'm trying to get my reading groove back. I have Archie from last year. At the end of the last volume, Bettye was in a car accident and this volume is all about the town dealing with dear Bettye being out of commission. It is plain how much Bettye is important to the whole town of Riverdale and they all miss her.

Archie is dealing with Bettye and Roni and Bettye's dad wants to keep Archie out of Bettye's life forever. Reggie is in jail, which is fun, but he gets out at the end and it's too soap opera to be believable. Still, you can't keep Reggie down.

This was a great forward motion for the story and interesting, but Bettye is standing by the end of the volume and if you are going to do something like this with a character, it shouldn't be so quick to heal. Soap Opera's always do that and it's cheap writing I think.
