Overall, this series was just okay for me - not as great as I wanted it to be but not bad either. I enjoyed it but didn't love it.
I do think there are things this book and this series does really well - and honestly I think I might have enjoyed the 3rd one the most, but it might also just be the freshest in my mind. I think it handles a largely unlikeable main character well by keeping her true to her character but not making her unbearable. It think the magic and history are interesting, though I would have liked more depth in both. I think the ensemble made for a strong cast, though the devotion of some felt convenient other than organic.
I understand why people rave about this series - I think i was just hoping for more of certain things, which is okay. I do recommend the series overall though!
