The Tyrant's Tomb
by Rick Riordan
4.5/5
Hello Demigods!
Here's my official review, now that I am finally finished. I really didn't think it would take me this long to get through tyrants tomb after the burning maze but it did. This was my most anticipated read for 2019 and sadly it didn't live up to expectations for me. That's not to say it was bad, I just feel like I was expecting something different after the burning maze.
My biggest issue with Tyrants tomb was being back at Camp Jupiter, I am bias to Camp Half Blood so I had a feeling that would happen. Despite how well rounded the comedy usually is, some parts were just too cheesy for me. Like I said after what happened in the burning maze I was expecting a very dark book like House of Hades and Battle of the Labyrinth was.
Despite that, the book was phenomenal It was hard to get into but the last 100 or so pages were really freaking good! I think this is one of the best battles Rick has written in a long time. Despite what I hoped for Reyna not happening I ended up even happier with what canonly happened, no spoilers here but it fit her character well to go this direction.
One of the best things about Trials of Apollo (in terms of our visiting characters from the previous series) was how well the girls have developed. Piper stunned me in TBM and Hazel literally blew me away in this installment.
Also can I just freaking say how proud I am of Frank?? He has developed so much, and has become an amazing leader.
Apollos development gets better with each installment and its kind of upsetting to know that tower of Nero will be the last piece of this story. I could care less for the triumvirate but I have loved discovering the different oracles. I believe that the Sybil has been my absolute FAVORITE. A lot of the scenes in this book were very emotional, the moment between Don the fawn and the rest of the crew absolutely destroyed me. And can I just say PLEASE LET MEG AND APOLLO STAY TOGETHER AFTER THIS ALL ENDS BECAUSE THEY ARE LEGIT SIBLING GOALS. THEY MAKE ME WANT TO WEEP!!!!
So basically this book was not exactly what I was expecting, but it was still amazing and I got a lot of moments that weren't expected and I loved every moment of it.
Also spoiler, fuck the emperors I AM SO GLAD CALIGULA AND COMMODUS DIED. THANKS BYE YOU WONT BE MISSED!
OH someone let Meg adopt a freaking unicorn, my baby girl deserves it. I'm so ready for the tower of Nero and TO SEE MY LITTLE BOY NICOOOOOO.
Okay, I'm done now.
