I read this book on friends’ recommendations when it was super popular and when I finished I threw it across the room. The first part of the book was fine, I guess, but once the reveal that precipitates the second part happens, the characters whose voices were “merged” should have separated and become distinct. They didn’t, which is a flaw of the writing. Combined with the frankly atrocious things the femme MC did, and how neatly and horribly the book ended, I was simultaneously unimpressed with the writing and plot structure and sick from the plot. I don’t know why people liked this book or why it was adapted into a film.
