The Road of Bones
by Demi Winters
Ahem. Ok. Wasn’t amazing but definitely has potential.
This book was a 3 for me the whole way through up until about chapter 61 (there’s 63 chapters lol)
I really did not like Silla at first. She was weak and annoying - like she’s never even ridden a horse…like come on. I am so tired of young MFCs who are useless.
She fell for the hot Viking way too fast (I hated him the entire time and for good reason, so many red flags I CANNOT).
The “Road of Bones” was them being attacked a couple times - I didn’t think the action scenes were that great. It was mostly her becoming “friends” with the BloodAxe Crew.
I really did like the plot but the romance wasn’t my favorite. Wasn’t shocked by any of the plot twists and couldn’t care less when certain characters were “removed” from the story line.
Honestly it was kind of mid until the last like 2 chapters when she FINALLY LEARNS TO FIGHT AND STARTS BEING A BAD ASS.
There is a really strong magic system that’s being developed, I thought it was pretty cool although I’m annoyed that we have a main character POV who was actually hiding something huge the whole time and it’s never hinted to the reader, just came out of no where.
Idk maybe I’ll get some more answers in the next book. I am in dire need of actual female warriors besides Hekla and Sigrun.
