A Doll's House
by Henrik Ibsen
just saw a live production of this play that was adapted by amy herzog and starring jessica chastain.
i learned so much about stage and set design just observing the way in which the team chose to build this world. it was very minimalist: no props, no costumes, no set. it felt like a reading or a radio play. the ending was gorgeous, as Nora leaves her domestic life, the back of the stage opened out to the streets of new york city and light blinded the audience as it spilled across the seats in an otherwise gray and bleak stage.
