This book was amazing. I absolutely loved it. It takes place in present day and follows the main character, 17 year old Maya Aziz in her Senior year as she tries to follow her parents and be the obedient Indian Muslim American daughter. However, there is part of her that wants to do more with her life such as pursuing her talent of film at NYU. When a terrible crime committed just a town away from her, she faces fear and hatred from many around her. With the help of family and friends and romantic interests along she strives to find peace and strength to find herself. This is such a well written book that provides insight on the Indian Muslim American culture and opened my eyes to what others go through. With sprinkles of swoon worthy romance this was an overall great read!
