The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
by Suzanne Collins
Suzanne Collins never writes a Hunger Games book without purpose, despite what reviewers may say. I avoided this book for years because someone somewhere said it was a cash-grab and I listened to them. Truthfully, I think this book should be required reading with the rise of fascism in the U.S. to give an example of how unreliable inner monologues can let us excuse our cruelty.
