"Every introvert needs an emotional-support extrovert."

Truer words were never spoken! I like to refer to it as "buddy-system extroverting." 😂 Regardless, Annie is the embodiment of a little anxiety-filled introvert. Honestly, the portrayal of her panic attacks, anxiety tummy, and self-consciousness that comes with being aware of one's own anxiety was spot on. If I'm asked to speak in front of a crowd, I instantly start sweating...pits, hands, boobs (the works)! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Miles is hired to protect Annie and bulldozes his way into her life as this hyperactive, chaotic, golden retriever of a guy, who is super proud of the things he enjoys (Pink Drinks and Crocs top the list). He wears his weird out in the open and uses it to break down dear Annie's defenses.

I LOVE Miles! Listen, would I feel compelled to shake him into silence on occasion?  Sure, but I think the way he  supports Annie from the start is so special and desirable in a friend, a lover, and a partner.

This book introduces us to a brand new cast of characters (and features some old faves), and it's intriguing to see where Maggie is going to take us with our new friends at Keller & Asses (Oops....I mean, Associates)!

We also have a real tongue-in-cheek reading experience as romance tropes are often teased and discussed throughout. I loved that it poked fun at a lot of our favorite tropes while still working some of those into the context of the story.

OH! I almost forgot! Miles is absolutely a hopeless romantic. The way he waxes poetic about their kiss and her lips. I was highlighting passage after passage, thinking Miles was going to melt right off the page! 😂

Maggie Gates never disappoints, and I'm eager to recommend another excellent book! 100 Lifetimes of Us is out June 12th!

Also, the attention that Maggie gives to her characters' culture and heritage is remarkable! I feel like these characters are genuinely well-crafted and whole people in the Maggie-verse.
