emotional hopeful reflective fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I did not love the main characters. It was boring and seemed to drag on.

I wanted to see more of the father/daughter relationship but we see more of the one sided thoughts about the misunderstandings and little of the connecting between Cash and Macie.

I hated Carter. He is selfish and childish and while he grows it felt like not enough and too late.

I enjoyed the relationship between Gem and Macie. They really seem to understand each other.

Blatant racism and homophobia on the page is just unacceptable.

There are a lot of racist stereotypes and they are not questioned and built into the characters understandings of others and themselves. It felt icky.

Macie says in the page that she sensed homophobia from Carter but instead of confronting it she avoided talking about homosexuality. That did not sit well with me.
