Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand

adventurous dark emotional hopeful informative reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

This is truly a beautifully written nonfiction about a man who survived against unsurmountable odds. From surviving with no food on a raft in the ocean for over a month, to being interned in a harsh POV camp in Japan during WWII, to then coming home and having to pick up the pieces of his life, Louis Zamperini is indeed an inspiring man. This book tells his story from his childhood and training for the Olympics in track all the way to his death in 2014 at the age of 97. Not only is the story itself beautiful, but Hillenbrand's writing has this perfect balance between history and captivating narrative. I can see why this book has become so popular, and for once it is not overhyped at all. A great WWII biography!
