Nixonland: The Rise of a President and the Fracturing of America
by Rick Perlstein
not exactly the quickest read in the world, but WOW was this engrossing. nixon is a uniquely strange political figure (or, in common parlance, a fucked up little guy) and perlstein's writing is in peak form here trying to capture all of it. i was veeery taken with all the parallels to our current political situation--which honestly only strengthens perlstein's argument that we are still living in the house/country that richard nixon built. i can't necessarily recommend a 748 page book to Everyone but for those interested in thinking about how we got Here--i think this book is a great start.
