edit: (feb 2024) i thought i loved it the first time but i’m so in love the 2nd time. this book has my whole heart, i don’t understand how any found it disappointing or not good, but i don’t care. Violet is me, i am her. she is my girl. she is my soul character. nobody gets her like i do. and even tho xaden kept doing/ saying things that made me wanna bitch slap him, i still adore him soooo so so much. no book has made me feel this way since acomaf and throne of glass. it’s seriously one of my all time favorites.
i thought Fourth Wing was incredible- Iron Flame is an absolute MASTERPIECE.
-✅fully fleshed our characters, plot and arcs
-✅ an epic love story that got 10x as intense from book 1
-✅ the DEVELOPMENT!! from the first page to the last!! and realistically, even xaden and violet’s weren’t linear which makes them feel so REAL. but the development in the plot and also the several different relationships and blending dynamics? SO GOOD
-✅ amazing writing. it truly felt super cinematic
-✅ the SPICE … HIT !!! and it wasn’t too much to take away from the plot, it was the perfect blend

i gasped when i saw andarna was a black dragon. i screamed when i gathered she could very well be a camouflage expert. and i nearly choked when it was revealed who she truly is. what. the. hell. also i LOVE that she’s growing into her own character with her own personality. i fucking love her. and tairn, GODDDD i love them both.
THE THRONE SCENE. XADEN IS THE BEST BOOK BOYFRIEND.
