Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella

3.0

I love Becky Bloomwood. I really do. She may be crazed about her shopping and brands and go overboard with her finances but she cares about her friends and family and she has a huge heart and pretty strong moral compass -- and she's so, so scrappy whenever she's in a scrape. So this book was a shock to me, because the Becky I've loved over the last six Shopaholic books was no longer there. This Becky was insanely selfish and gave up easily--and I had a lot of trouble rooting for her. There were a few hilarious moments as usual, but I didn't find myself guffawing as frequently as previous books in the series. Maybe Becky needs to get out of LA and away from all the kale smoothies to get back to her usual silly, sweet self. I'll still read the next book in the series, just maybe not as excitedly until the character I care about so much has returned.
