I started out really enjoying this story but as it continued it began to drag. So much of the plot is dependent on the fact that no one tells the MC, Inez, anything to the point that it almost becomes comical. However my biggest issue with the plot is the lack of climax and conclusion; this story can absolutely not stand in it’s own. It’s the first of a duology and this story is continuing a tread that has been seen a lot in YA and now seems to be spreading more widely; don’t bother with climax and conclusion just stop and basically slap ‘to be continued’ at the end of the story. This is just lazy writing or a money grab to try and ensure readers come back for the second book. Perhaps it’s both. Either way it’s disappointing.
