Coldhearted Heir by Michelle Heard

3.0

Coldhearted Heir is the story of Hunter Chargill and Jade Daniels, who find love after overcoming all the angst and misunderstandings in their past.

Synopsis:
Two years ago, Jade Daniels lost her childhood friend and the love of her life – Brady Lawson. He may have killed himself, but Hunter was the reason. Now, when Hunter is twenty-two and Jade eighteen; they both are in Trinity Academy.

Hunter Chargill hasn’t done anything wrong but he can’t make Jade understand that. Her hatred for him seems to run deep. With a whole year to be spending in each other’s company, will they make it without tearing each other apart?

Review:
Narrated in the first person from dual perspectives, half of this story is full of angst and misunderstandings. There are sixteen kids who grew up together. In a close-knit business community, parents of whom are practically the royalty. They own the Trinity Academy, the how of which I came to know about only after finishing the book. It all started with the Trinity Academy and the Enemies to Lovers series of books by Michelle Heard.

This is the first book I’m reading by the author. I want to read all the seven books that will follow this one in The Heirs series. Yes, they’re that compelling. But, there is something that seems missing, or maybe it’s me who wanted more conflict. In that way, it is good as a relaxing read.

The best thing about the stories was the representation. That it’s okay for men to cry and that girls and boys can be close friends. There’s a family tree provided right at the very beginning but it still gets confusing at times.

It mentioned Smallville and I couldn’t have been happier! But yeah…it’s not the book, it’s me. I still expected more conflict. If you want a really lighthearted read, then this is it. There’s a sweet epilogue as well at the end.

But is the heir really coldhearted?
I would say not, only for a brief period of time maybe.

P.S. My reviews of the books in the series is as follows:
Coldhearted Heir | Arrogant Heir | Defiant Heir

Thank you to Candi Kane PR for an e-ARC of the book.
