A Ruin of Roses
by K.F. Breene
Hey this was better than I expected, but some things made me give it a 3.
The good stuff :
- great smut. love the spice
- the butler Hadriel is hilarious. it's a beauty and a beast retelling, so is he Lumiere? If so, Hadriel is the funniest Lumiere ever
- Finley (beauty) and Nyfain (the beast) are both obsessed with everlass plants. i like this. i always like more botany in fantasy.
- Finley is a smart ass talker. slightly crazy, but fun.
The meh stuff :
- the backdrop feels unnecessarily complicated. i stopped following the explanations at some point and just enjoyed the spice.
- nyfain's foul moods are just annoying. major turn-off.
- plot is confusing. again, it's a beauty and the beast retelling, why overcomplicate the plot?
If you're in it for the spice and JUST the spice, it's worth it.
